Your Ascendant: The Mask and the Mirror
Your Ascendant (Rising sign) is often described as the "mask" you wear in public. But in psychological astrology, it is much more nuanced than that. Your Ascendant is the lens through which the world first perceives you — and, more importantly, it is the lens through which you first perceive the world.
When the Mask Feels Heavy
Many people with strong Ascendant placements (especially in signs like Virgo, Capricorn, or Scorpio) report feeling misunderstood or anxious in social situations. The CBT perspective tells us that social anxiety often stems from mind-reading — assuming we know what others think of us.
A Grounding Technique
Next time you feel socially anxious, try this exercise from Mother Moon: Place your hand on your heart and silently say, "I am not responsible for how others perceive me. I am responsible for how I show up." Take three deep breaths. Then ask yourself: "What would I do right now if I were not afraid?"
Your Ascendant is not a prison, darling. It is a doorway.
